Educational workshops are the bread and butter of Sweet Flag Herbs. In western New York, there is an abundance of medicinal and edible plants growing in every lawn, sidewalk crack, and wooded area. Sarah offers workshops about identifying, sustainably harvesting/cultivating, and making concoctions with these plants.

Springtime Herbal Remedies


beHealthy Institute (40 Main St, Village of Hamburg)

Two Mondays, May 15th &  22nd

 Spring offers an abundance of local medicinal plants in western NY. In this two-part class, Sarah will introduce a variety of wild species that can support wellness– many of which may be in your backyard. Learn identification, sustainable harvesting techniques, and how to safely utilize each plant. Each participant will prepare an herb-infused oil and vinegar to take home.
Cost:  $64 for two classes (samples, supplies, handouts and recipes included).

Wonderful Wild Greens (5/23): Learn to identify and harvest cleavers, chickweed, self-heal, violet and more. Learn about the support these plants offer our digestion, skin, lymphatic and immune systems, in addition to their tasty contribution to meals. Each participant will craft an herb-infused oil for topical use.

Rich Roots (5/30): A number of weedy roots offer unique support to our liver, digestion and skin. Learn the special properties of plants like burdock, chicory, dandelion root and yellow dock. Each participant will craft an herb-infused vinegar to take home.
